The project was an invited competition for a new HQ for Lenovo in Shenzhen. Offices where located in two towers which formed a gateway through the site by stepping back and exposting a programmable undersite to the commuters on the main plaza.
Through analysis and understanding of the neighbouring spacearound the site, it became apparent that our project must act as a connector between the elevated platform in the north of the site and the green park strip in the south. By interconnecting these 2 we create an axis that serves as the main attractor for visitors bringing pedestrians directly into the heart of the site. By adding a complimentary secondary axis from the North East to the South West we create what we call the “Urban Weave”. This ensures we bring as much pedestrian traffic as possible into the site, directly into the heart of our commercial area. This simple concept formulates our project as the interconnector of the entire neighbourhood, and the headpiece of this development area.
My personal role was the design of the towers as well as facade design and development.
