The State Hermitage will open a new satellite for modern and contemporary art in Moscow. The former ZIL factory carries a legacy of modernization and technological progress. A Malevichian composition of gallerybars creates an sequence of curatorial spaces.
The 140,000-square-foot, 15-story Hermitage satellite, with a shrink-wrapped digital skin enclosing a porous, terraced interior, will be part of a mixed-use district developed on the grounds of the former ZiL auto plant, which manufactured limousines for Soviet leaders. The LSR Group, a Moscow developer, will build a structure for Hermitage 20/21, a department of the museum that has organized contemporary exhibitions since 2007. The State Hermitage Museum’s newest outpost is expected for completion in 2022.
I participated as a lead designer from schematic design to 100% design development on the project. My field of operation was from conceptualization, digital design, modelling of facade, visualizing materials & spatial effects, facade studies to model making.
