Stair Sculpture Bauhaus HQ – at BlocherPartners

Another (personal) special part of the BAUHAUS Deutschland from blocher partners new headquarters in Mannheim is its central staircase.
Designed back in 2020 as part of the design team at blocher partners, the sculptural staircase was envisioned to welcome visitors and employees alike. As an open circulation space, the intention was to facilitate social exchange and openness.
Designed out of wood, and a challenging structure, I was amazed to see it completed with such a careful execution and level of detail. The layering and transition of wood are so well executed, and when I experienced it first hand, I was surprised, at how precise it was manufactured to the original design.
