Recognition award architecture, 1st prize landscape architecture
Our design for the new Bürgerhous in Olpe aimed to incorporate the existing old railway building as an essential part of the concept. We organized the space program in a way that resembles a star, the Bürgersaal, the library, the front desks as well with the library and offices formed a common center which articulated itself in a formal language on the seamlines between the new and the existing building.
Each leg of the project is a constructively optimized box with individual height, which blends together in the center of the building, carving out a space for public circulation. With this method, each function could be individually accessed and closed off, allowing maximum flexibility for current and future usages.
